A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments made by Walter Sabatini concerning Bologna potentially eyeing a move for Erik Lamela.

It has been an interesting time for Lamela of late. His performance in the recent North London derby seemed to sum up his time at Tottenham quite nicely.

He produced an outrageous piece of skill to put Spurs in front. But he came in for some criticism after getting sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession in the second-half.

His future is set to be a talking point over the coming months. As noted by Football London, his contract expires at the end of next season. Spotrac meanwhile, shows that he is on £80,000-a-week.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham decide to try and agree fresh terms. But it does appear that he is set to attract offers.

Bologna’s director of football Sabatini has told Resto Del Carmino that the Argentinian is one of the players they are looking at before the summer.

“Lamela is one of the names we are considering. Let me explain: we are trying to understand if there are the possibilities to bring him to Bologna. Nothing has been agreed,” he told RDC.

The comments have prompted a debate amongst Spurs fans about what the club should do with Lamela. And it seems that there is a divide.

‘Probably the right time’

Some would be disappointed to see Lamela leave. His work-rate can rarely be questioned. And as already mentioned, he is capable of moments of sheer brilliance.

However, others feel that now is the time to cash in. Some clearly think that he would not warrant a new contract. And thus, this summer may be the last opportunity to recoup a significant fee.

With that in mind, here is how some of the fans have reacted to Sabatini’s comments…
