Spurs fans react on Twitter to report concerning Gareth Bale’s future

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from Spanish outlet AS this week suggesting that Gareth Bale is keen to play for Real Madrid once again before his contract expires in 2022.

It is fair to say that Bale’s return to North London is yet to really ignite. The forward has only made one Premier League start so far. He has however, started all six of Spurs’ Europa League games.

It is too soon to write the Welshman off. He is still getting up to speed. And there have been moments which have reminded supporters of how good he can be.

There is certainly reason to believe that Bale could have a much more important role to play during the remaining months of the season. And of course, that may lead to a debate over whether Tottenham need to try and keep the 31-year-old for longer.

But perhaps, Bale may actually have other ideas. A surprise report from AS this week has claimed that he wants a swansong year back in the Spanish capital.

It is noted that he may be relying on Zinedine Zidane leaving before the start of next season. However, it is claimed that Zidane staying would not take a return to the Bernabeu completely off the table either.

The reports have left plenty of Tottenham fans feeling surprised on social media. Some refuse to believe that there is a chance that he could play for Madrid again. And they are not sure why he would want to, having been on the periphery for so long before his summer move.

Some have also expressed an indifference to the reports. Bale has not yet vindicated Spurs’ decision to bring him back. So they are not sure that they will mind losing him at the end of the season.
