A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from 90 Min suggesting that Spurs are interested in signing Olivier Giroud.
The January window is well into the home straight. And Jose Mourinho is still on the lookout for a new striker who can replace Harry Kane.
Steven Bergwijn has been signed from PSV Eindhoven. But Spurs fans may be hoping that a goalscorer will also arrive before the deadline.
And 90 Min has suggested this week that they have a surprise target on their radar. They are reportedly interested in Giroud and could even offer the Frenchman a two-and-a-half year contract.
It should be noted that 90 Min reports that Chelsea are said to be reluctant to do business with Tottenham as they look to stay ahead of Mourinho’s men in the race for the top four.
And Chelsea’s stance looks set to please a lot of Spurs supporters on social media. Plenty seem to be very underwhelmed with the reports.
‘I’d be stunned’
Giroud has played a peripheral role since joining the Blues. He has scored just nine league goals since the start of the 2017/18 campaign.
And of course, his connections with Arsenal could leave him with a bigger point to prove.
However, not all Tottenham fans are against a potential move.
Giroud has scored 78 goals during his time in the Premier League. And some have suggested that he could make an impact in the short-term.
There are also a handful of fans who appear to feel that signing Giroud would be better than bringing no-one in before the window closes.
Here is what some of the supporters make of the reported interest in Giroud…
why do I keep seeing people saying no to this. I personally think it’d be a good signing🤷🏻♂️

He’s scored 10 league goals in the last 2.5 years!! Is this really the standard we are going for. Anyone that is okay with this has been well and truly beaten down by Levy and ENIC. Oh and he’s ex Arsenal and Chelsea #desperatemuch

He’s a proven premier league striker whose looking to return to form prior to the euros. Could be a good option 🤔…previous clubs aside 😂

I’d be stunned if this happened.

I’m okay with this. Feels less risky than Piatek or Jose, I think he’d do a job

Please let this be a joke

Something is better than nothing.

Giroud could be the difference of Spurs getting top four.
That means dislodging Chelsea, and therefore means the deal won’t happen.

I wouldn’t be angry at getting him, just wouldn’t be buzzing
