Spurs fans react on Twitter to Moussa Sissoko’s display

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to slam Moussa Sissoko’s performance as Spurs suffered their first defeat under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United on Wednesday night.

With several wins already under the belt for Mourinho, he may well have been hoping to see his side show further signs of progress by keeping a clean sheet. Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed within six minutes.

Marcus Rashford drilled the ball in at Paolo Gazzaniga’s near post. The Tottenham keeper got a hand to the ball, but he could not prevent it smashing into the back of the net.

Spurs went into the break level thanks to a piece of brilliance from Dele Alli. He produced a piece of skill somewhat reminiscent of his stunning strike at Crystal Palace several years ago. The midfielder flicked the ball over his head and volleyed it past David de Gea.

But the home side were back in front four minutes after the interval. Sissoko brought Rashford down inside the box and the striker calmly converted the penalty.

Sissoko had a good opportunity to atone for that error shortly after the midway point in the second-half. Spurs launched a blistering counter attack, and the Frenchman appeared to have an opportunity to switch the play and release one of his teammates. However, he got the pass all wrong and sliced the ball straight into de Gea’s hands.

It was not a great night for Tottenham. And there is no question that the majority of the supporters were not happy with Sissoko’s display.

Here is what some of the fans made of his performance in the 2-1 defeat…
