Spurs fans react on Twitter to Marcelino contact reports

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Athletic claiming that the club have made contact with Marcelino’s representatives.

Spurs appear to be stepping up their pursuit of their next boss following Jose Mourinho’s departure at the start of the week.

It appears that a number of names are on their radar. The Athletic reports that the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Scott Parker have admirers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But they also have an interest in Marcelino. The Athletic claims that contact has been made with the representatives of the 55-year-old.

The Spaniard only took the Athletic Bilbao job at the start of the year. He has made the team difficult to beat – although they have lost out in both the 2020 and 2021 Copa del Rey finals during his tenure.

Marcelino has previously earned plaudits for the work he has done with the likes of Valencia and Villarreal. And it seems that some of the Spurs fans would like to see him appointed.

Admittedly, some are not entirely convinced.

But his sides have a clear identity. And after Mourinho’s underwhelming tenure – coupled with the success Mauricio Pochettino enjoyed – it appears that appointing a manager with a clear philosophy would be a popular move.
