A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Lucas Moura’s display in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday.

It proved to be a heartbreaking occasion for Ryan Mason and his side. Aymeric Laporte scored the only goal in the latter stages to lead City to the trophy.

Lucas was deemed to be one of Tottenham’s most dangerous players by a number of fans. Spurs found it difficult to lay a glove on City during the first-half.

However, after the break, they asked a lot more questions of Pep Guardiola’s side. They looked a lot more threatening on the counter attack, with Lucas one of those who did cause problems.

In particular, Laporte seemed to struggle with dealing with the Brazilian. And that is why some fans were left baffled by a decision Mason made during the second-half.

Lucas was taken off midway through the second-half along with Giovani Lo Celso. Admittedly, the call was a difficult one with Mason wanting to introduce Gareth Bale.

Taking off Son Heung-min – who was under-par – would have been a gamble. But it appears that many of the fans would have appreciated the braver call of leaving Lucas on the pitch.

‘We never learn’

No Spurs player made more dribbles while the 28-year-old was involved in the game (Whoscored).

He also made two interceptions, which is hardly a surprise given that Lucas is often a player who brings that energy and dynamism to the side, particularly in forward areas.

With that in mind, here is how some of the fans reacted to Lucas’s performance at Wembley…
