A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Joe Rodon’s performance as Spurs beat Sheffield United 3-1 on Sunday.

Goals from Serge Aurier, Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele handed Jose Mourinho’s men the three points. It was an important win for Tottenham with the Blades picking up their first league victory of the season last time out.

Rodon was handed his second top flight start for Spurs at Bramall Lane. And while he had a couple of shaky moments, he seemed to stand out as one of Tottenham’s best performers.

As shown by Whoscored.com, he completed 67 successful passes. Only Eric Dier and Ndombele managed more. Meanwhile, the Wales international also won five aerial duels – no teammate could match that tally.

There were a couple of crucial moments involving Rodon, where he managed to make hugely important blocks and challenges.

And his performance prompted many fans to insist that he deserves more game-time. It was a big call to select the 23-year-old ahead of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez.

But several clearly felt that he vindicated Jose Mourinho’s decision. And plenty of fans insisted that they are incredibly excited about what the future holds for Rodon.

It is already remarkable to think that Tottenham paid an initial £11 million for Rodon (via BBC Sport). The early evidence suggests that that deal was a masterstroke.
