A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to react after Jose Mourinho confirmed – in comments reported by Football London – that Joe Rodon will not be added to Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League squad.

Rodon missed the group-stages after signing right at the end of the summer transfer window. But he has still managed to make an impact in the months following his move to North London.

The Wales international has shown glimpses that suggest that he is going to be a fantastic defender in the future. And having cost an initial £11 million (via BBC Sport), there appears to be every reason to think that he is going to be a sensational signing.

Unfortunately, the performances he has produced so far have not led to the youngster being added to the Europa League squad.

Mourinho expressed his disappointment over the 23-year-old’s omission. But he insisted that it was the right decision to make.

“A hard decision but a decision where we wanted to show respect for the group,” he said, as reported by Football London. “We wanted to show respect to the people that started the competition.”

Plenty of Spurs fans do not appear to believe that it was the right decision. Rodon has been a shining light lately. Even after he made an error in the recent loss to Liverpool, the general consensus seemed to be that he had produced a fantastic display.

So a lot of supporters have been left scratching their heads. They cannot quite their head around the logic of leaving Rodon out.

Here is how some of the fans have reacted to the decision…
