A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Gareth Bale’s performance after coming on in the latter stages of Spurs’ 3-0 loss to Manchester City.

It is fair to say that Bale’s return to North London has not gone to plan. There have been a couple of glimpses of his brilliance. However, he is yet to vindicate the club’s decision to bring him back.

There was plenty of intrigue surrounding the Welshman earlier this week when he was left out of Jose Mourinho’s squad for the FA Cup tie with Everton. But he made his return to the bench on Saturday.

He was unable to get on the scoresheet. But as shown by Whoscored.com, he managed two attempts on goal. No Tottenham player managed more during the game.

Meanwhile, there was an outstanding run on the edge of the box where he danced past several City players before getting a shot away.

It was a reminder of what Bale could do if he rediscovers his best form. And some Spurs fans are hoping that it could act as a turning point in his loan spell.

A couple of supporters insisted that he was actually Tottenham’s best player on Saturday. And some have asked for Bale to be handed a start in the Europa League this coming week to hopefully build on his bright cameo.

With that in mind, here is what some of the fans made of his performance…
