Spurs fans react on Twitter to Erik Lamela’s display

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Erik Lamela’s display as Spurs got back to winning ways on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho’s men had a point to prove following their abject performance in midweek. And the supporters may have been fearful when their clash with West Bromwich Albion went into half-time goalless.

But Tottenham were much more ruthless after the break. Harry Kane gave the home side the lead. And Son Heung-min doubled the advantage shortly after.

A number of players seemed to step up. And Lamela was one of those who was lauded by the supporters on social media.

The attacking midfielder’s performance was exhilarating and tenacious in equal measure. As shown by Whoscored.com, no Spurs player won more tackles than the 28-year-old.

He also seemed to make a number of lung-busting bursts forward with the ball. It was certainly a display that vindicated Mourinho’s decision to promote him to the starting lineup.

The intensity he brought to the game drove Tottenham on during a potentially frustrating first-half. And he continued to stand out as one of their most impressive performers as Spurs stepped it up after the break.
