Spurs fans react as Sergio Reguilon receives Spain call-up

A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to comment after it was announced on Monday that Sergio Reguilon has been called up to the Spain squad for their World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old will get the chance to add to his handful of caps for his country when Luis Enrique’s men face Kosovo this week.

It comes after Jose Gaya sustained an injury. He actually scored in their most recent game, the 4-0 win over Georgia, before being replaced with 16 minutes remaining.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the news concerning Reguilon has divided many of the Tottenham fans on social media.

Several of the fans are delighted for the left-back. He has started the new campaign extremely well with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side keeping clean sheets in each of their opening three Premier League games.

And many feel that the call-up is more than deserved.

Others however, are now concerned about what his involvement may mean for Spurs after the international break.

They are worried that he may return too late to be involved against Crystal Palace. Nuno’s side travel to Selhurst Park in the early kick-off on Saturday, so there really is not a long turnaround time for Reguilon.

It would be a blow for the Spaniard to miss out. And with Ben Davies also away with Wales, some are fearing an anxious wait to see if they get through the remaining games unscathed.
