This week started on a poor note for Tottenham, as the club crashed to a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea in their first home game of the season.
Despite this, the side has at least begun its customary transfer market binge with barely a week to go before the summer window closes, with BBC Sport announcing the club record signing of Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez and the addition of goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. The former deal has been particularly well-received on Twitter, with fans excited about the centre-back’s potential.

It is fair to say that the signing of Gazzaniga has not been greeted as enthusiastically by the Tottenham faithful, despite their new ‘keeper sharing a moniker with club legend Paul Gascoigne.
The new signings did not distract Spurs’ fans completely from the disappointing defeat against an under-strength Chelsea side, as talk of a so-called ‘Wembley curse’ reared its ugly head once again. Some seemed to buy into this, while other were a little less convinced.

Elsewhere, there was plenty of speculation surrounding Tottenham’s potential Champions League draw, after Liverpool became the fifth English club to confirm their place in the group stages. There were plenty of perspectives on offer, with some fans fearful, others thoughtful and some dreaming of the ultimate glory!

Despite of all this, some Spurs fans still found the time to give former record signing Moussa Sissoko a hard time on Twitter. It’s a tough job, but clearly somebody has to do it!
