There is an old and popular adage which says “better late than never”, but Tottenham fans probably wish that Chairman Daniel Levy did not apply this to every single transfer window.
Despite plenty of speculation, as reported by The Times, regarding Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez and Paris Saint Germain right-back Serge Aurier in particular, Spurs still have yet to complete a single deal during the summer while there are now just two weeks left until the window slams shut.
The club’s fans have reacted with a mixture of rage, humour and concern on Twitter, with some directing their discontent at Levy and the club’s transfer policy.

Spurs fans at least found some light relief on Twitter, as a couple of their former players completed lucrative transfers this week. Everton’s reported £45 million purchase of Gylfi Sigurðsson even afforded Spurs a cut of the deal, while Paulinho’s big money switch to Barcelona baffled most (including the much maligned midfielder himself).

At least on the field it was business as usual for Spurs, who started their campaign with an impressive 2-0 win at newly-promoted Newcastle United.
