‘I would’: Some Spurs fans urge club to sign international striker without a club since December

A number of Tottenham Hotspur have taken to Twitter to urge the club to move for an international striker who is a free agent and was once reportedly on Jose Mourinho’s radar.

Tottenham are currently in dire straits in terms of attacking options after Son Heung-min was ruled out for what the Spurs head coach believes will be the rest of the season.

The South Korea international will be undergoing surgery after sustaining a fracture to his right arm during Spurs’ victory over Aston Villa, a game in which he nonetheless scored twice.

The Tottenham website estimated a layoff of “a number of weeks” but Mourinho questioned the timescale issued and doubts that the 27-year-old will be back this season, as reported by BBC Sport.

“I’m not going to count on him again this season,” said Mourinho. “If he plays two or three games then it’s because (Tottenham’s press officer) is very optimistic, and I hope he is right. But, in my mind, I’m not thinking about that.”

With Tottenham also missing Harry Kane through injury, there are real issues in terms of front line personnel – Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Troy Parrott are now the only fit forwards.

Some Spurs fans on social media have been looking into free agent options, who could be signed by a club outside of a transfer window, and one name cropped up several times.

Diafra Sakho, formerly of West Ham United, is without a club at present after leaving Rennes at the end of last year (Transfermarkt).

Back in 2014, Mourinho – then manager of Chelsea – was credited with an interest in the 30-year-old, who plied his trade for West Ham at the time (The Telegraph).

Here is what some Tottenham fans have been saying online about the 13-cap Senegal international:
