A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have admitted on Twitter that they are concerned about Jack Clarke’s lack of game-time at Queens Park Rangers following the winger’s second move of the season in January.
Clarke has endured a frustrating season. He featured just once for Leeds United in the Championship after returning to Elland Road in the summer following his £10 million switch to Tottenham (fee reported by the Guardian).
It was not a huge surprise to see the youngster recalled in the winter window. And a switch to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium looked to be a good move for all parties.
Mark Warburton’s men are battling in mid-table in the second tier. And with his side often playing some fantastic football, it looked to be a good opportunity for Clarke.
The 19-year-old was outstanding at times last season. And of course, there is still plenty of time for the wide-man to make a significant impact.
But there is no getting away from the fact that he has not made the best start. He is still looking for his first league start this season. And he has been an unused substitute in QPR’s last two games.
With fellow loanee Luke Amos also sitting Saturday’s win over Stoke out, some Spurs fans are concerned about whether the move to QPR was smart for Clarke.
There is some worry about the future may hold if he cannot break into Warburton’s side before the campaign concludes.
A lot of the fans seem to have sympathy for Clarke. They have been more critical of the club’s decision to loan him to QPR when he finds himself in the same situation he was in at Leeds.
Clarke unquestionably has the potential to prove a massive point before the season ends. But the Spurs fans are worried about whether he will get the chance to make his mark.
Here is how some of the Tottenham fans reacted to seeing Clarke was an unused substitute against Stoke…
I concerned about Jack Clarke, he has not really had any game time since we bought him, was that a bad buy?

Surely he’d be better off at the club, under our training methods, or facilities and playing regularly for the U23s than being out on loan at a championship club getting no game time.

Glad we are trusting QPR with the development of our youngsters….

Thoughts on Jack Clarke? I know It’s a bit too early for this sort of discussion, but as things stand, I can’t help but to feel like we overspent on a player who doesn’t seem much better than someone from our academy. #coys https://t.co/kuLH0tbSzY pic.twitter.com/aEf5MYHSq8
