Tottenham Hotspur have plenty to ponder over the coming month, with the Premier League grinding to a halt.

The January transfer window is on the horizon and Spurs could well delve into the market for reinforcements.

According to GiveMeSport, Antonio Conte will look to bolster his back line in two months’ time.

Dean Jones, writing on the outlet, claimed that Tottenham have been tipped off about Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva.

The 19-year-old has reportedly been recommended to Spurs after an impressive breakout season in Portugal.

GiveMeSport believes that a number of top clubs have regularly scouted Silva this season.

Silva has yet to win a senior cap for Portugal, but is in Fernando Santos’ squad for the World Cup.

The teenager has also impressed Cristiano Ronaldo, who reportedly told Manchester United to sign him.

Silva has made 18 senior appearances for Benfica, registering three goals.

According to Football Talent Scout, he is a ‘complete and dominant’ centre-back with ‘no significant weaknesses’.

Jacek Kulig has also reported that Silva is ‘comfortable with his left foot’.

This is key as Conte was looking for a left-footed centre-back in summer, ultimately landing Clement Lenglet on loan.

And on Twitter, fans have compared Silva to Ruben Dias and Raphael Varane.

He typically plays in a back four, and may need to adapt to Conte’s three-man defensive system.

While Silva is a top talent, he’s still a bit inexperienced.

Therefore, he might not be what the Spurs boss is looking for at this moment in time, regarding the first-team.

Nonetheless, if Conte has one eye to the future, then Silva would be a great shout.
