Spurs could land Danny Ings if they pursue Ralph Hassenhuttl as Mourinho replacement

Rumblings have already started when it comes to Spurs and the future of Jose Mourinho, with the club struggling to maintain form in the Premier League.

Despite leading the charge earlier in the season, Mourinho has seen his Spurs side dip well away from the title race. In fact, a place in the top four would now be a huge success, especially if they can win the League Cup as well.

But as always with Mourinho, talk has turned to potential replacements for Tottenham. Indeed, a couple of names are already being mentioned. Julian Nagelsmann has been tipped for big things, while The Athletic claimed today that Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl is also on the radar for Spurs.

Of course, Mourinho remains firmly in charge for now. Daniel Levy is, for now, happy enough with his man. But Hassenhuttl, in his right, is a top up and coming manager as well.

But aside from just landing Hassenhuttl, could Spurs also have one eye on Danny Ings if they did move to appoint the Saints boss?

Spurs already want Danny Ings and bringing Hassenhuttl in can only help

The January window already saw rumours surface of Spurs potentially making a move for Ings. Harry Kane’s injury meant the floodgates opened in terms of replacements, with the England man an obvious choice.

But it does suggest Spurs have at least got an eye on Ings. There is, of course, no smoke without fire in a lot of transfer rumours.

Adding Hassenhuttl would surely give Spurs their best chance of landing Ings. The Austrian coach has brought the best out of the former Burnley and Liverpool man. And with a reported £75k-a-week contract expiring in just 2023, Ings might well be on the market soon.

Obviously, lots of things would need to fall into place for this to happen. But Tottenham have had success in bringing players in from Southampton, as evidenced by the success of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

It’s not beyond the realsm of possibility, then, that Ings and Hassenhuttl is something of interest to the Spurs higher-ups.
