Tottenham Hotspur look set to receive a significant boost ahead of the summer, with Spanish outlet Defensa Central reporting that Real Madrid are not currently planning to trigger the buy-back option in Sergio Reguilon’s deal this year.

Reguilon’s future has been uncertain throughout his time in North London. As noted by Football London, Spurs spent £28 million to bring the left-back to the Premier League.

However, as part of the deal, Tottenham and Real agreed that the latter would be able to re-sign Reguilon for £43 million.

The clause is reportedly available to Los Blancos in this summer window or next.

With the end of the season slowly emerging on the horizon, thoughts for Tottenham fans may soon turn to what the future holds for Reguilon.

The good news is it appears that he is going nowhere for the time-being. According to Defensa Central, Madrid are not planning to trigger the clause this summer.

It is suggested that a definitive decision will only be made next year before the clause expires.

It would be fantastic for Jose Mourinho’s men to keep Reguilon. He has made an incredibly impressive start to life in the Premier League.

There was always a risk that the better he was, the more likely it would be that Madrid would come calling.

But as things stand, he looks set for stay for one more year – at least.
