Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have potentially received a big blow in their reported bids to sign Ben Godfrey, with Sky Sports reporting the price that Norwich City are looking for this summer.
Godfrey is one of a number of talented youngsters who played a crucial role in getting Daniel Farke’s men to the Premier League last season.

Unfortunately, the Canaries look to be on the verge of being relegated. They are 10 points adrift of safety with four games to go.
Farke himself seemed to admit to Norwich’s official website after their latest defeat that relegation was all but inevitable at this stage.
Nevertheless, it appears that the club do not plan to lower their demands should any club come calling for one of their players this summer.

The Daily Mail reported this week that Newcastle are interested in signing Godfrey, while The Sun has recently suggested that Spurs are also admirers of the centre-back.
But should they wish to make a move, they are going to need to pay a hefty sum. Sky Sports is reporting that Norwich will demand up to £50 million for the 22-year-old.
TBR View: Asking price should deter Spurs and Magpies
Godfrey looks to be a very talented player. And of course, he may be able to display a lot more of his potential in a side which is battling much higher up the table.
However, it should be no surprise if that asking price deters both Tottenham and Newcastle.
As noted by Football London, Jose Mourinho is set to have a limited budget to work with this summer.
Meanwhile, Steve Bruce looks to be well-stocked for centre-back options. So his priorities may lie elsewhere when it comes to looking at marquee targets.
The two clubs may be wary of missing out. The Sun’s report also claimed that RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are also interested.
But if Norwich are indeed demanding as much as £50 million, you could certainly understand if Spurs and Newcastle decided to take a back seat in this particular race.
