Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has congratulated Erik Lamela after he won the 2021 Puskas Award.

The Argentine, who played for Spurs between 2013 and 2021, earned the accolade for his wonderful North London derby goal in March.

Lamela opened the scoring in the 2-1 defeat with a breathtaking rabona strike in the 33rd minute.

Gareth Bale began proceedings with a crossfield pass to Sergio Reguilon, who knocked it on for Lucas Moura.

The Brazilian swiftly knocked the ball towards Lamela, who was standing just to his left.

As the touch was a tad light for Lamela, he improvised by wrapping his left foot around his right ankle to connect with the ball.

The effort nutmegged Thomas Partey and sailed past Bernd Leno at the far post, cue delirium amongst the Spurs players.

Lamela, who joined Sevilla last summer, saw off competition from Patrik Schick and Mehdi Taremi to claim the Puskas prize.

It is Tottenham’s second Puskas award in a row after Son picked up the accolade for his wondergoal against Burnley in 2020.

And on Tuesday evening, Son posted an Instagram story welcoming Lamela to the Puskas club.
