Tottenham Hotspur loanee Ryan Sessegnon has spoken highly of Alphonso Davies, in conversation with the Bundesliga website.
The Spurs left-back is currently on loan at Hoffenheim, where he has made 16 appearances in all competitions, registering two goals and two assists.
In November, Hoffenheim fans voted the 20-year-old their Player of the Month with a huge 81 percent of the votes.
Sessegnon is playing in the same league as Davies, one of the most highly rated youngsters in world football.
The Bayern Munich ace, also 20, has already clocked up 68 senior appearances for the club, registering four goals and 10 assists.
Sessegnon describes Davies and RB Leipzig’s Angelino as “very good players” with whom he shares numerous traits and strengths, and suggested he hopes to learn from them.
“I like to watch Alphonso Davies and Angelino, two very good players, two very attack-minded full-backs/wing-backs,” Sessegnon said.
“We’ve got similar traits and similar strengths and things like that. Of course, I can always learn from other players and those are two players I like watching very much.”
Sessegnon – currently out with a thigh injury – joined Tottenham in 2019 to much fanfare, given his superb performances for Fulham in their 2017-18 promotion-winning campaign.
However, the 20-year-old’s maiden season at Spurs didn’t go to plan, with a hamstring injury keeping him out of action until November and little game time after that.
Sessegnon’s final tally in 2019-20 stood at 12 competitive senior appearances in all competitions, of which six were in the Premier League and three in the Champions League.
His loan at Hoffenheim is proving very fruitful and, if he continues on the same trajectory, then Jose Mourinho is bound to consider him for the first team in the summer and beyond.
