Sporting director’s comments suggest Leeds United can forget about Emre Mor transfer

Leeds United have recently been linked with a move for Turkish international forward Emre Mor.

As reported by Fotospor the West Yorkshire side were looking at the former wonderkid as a potential boost to their lack of current attacking options. Leeds lost loanees Jack Clarke and Eddie Nketiah at the start of the current transfer window.

Sporx later reported that Mor wants a move to Leeds, despite interest from fellow Championship promotion contenders West Brom and Brentford.

But the latest comments from his current club’s sporting director suggest Leeds should and probably have already forgotten about this potential deal.

Mor is contracted to Spanish side Celta Vigo. However, he is currently on loan at Galatasaray and Celta’s sporting director Felipe Minambres has confirmed this week, as reported by La Voz De Galicia, the Galician side have no control over his future until the end of the season.

“There were English Championship teams that have asked about him, but I can’t do anything because he’s a Galatasaray player June 30th.”

This surely means no move to Leeds. Whilst Galatasaray are seemingly keen to move the controversial star on, Leeds United are very unlikely to start negotiations with the Turkish side.

The clubs have a fractious history and Leeds essentially have nothing to do with the Istanbul club, for tragic reasons Leeds United fans will know all too well.

If it was up to doing a deal with Celta, then Leeds might have a chance. But now it appears Gala are calling the shots, Mor can surely be filed away as not happening in the current transfer window.
