Sporting boss Ruben Amorim says Tottenham star Hugo Lloris' 'kicks' can be very dangerous

Tottenham Hotspur take on Sporting Lisbon this evening, and the Lions boss Ruben Amorim is wary of Hugo Lloris‘ passing.

Sporting are a brilliant side themselves, and Amorim is among the finest young managers in Europe at the moment. His side are more than capable of causing Spurs all sorts of problems this evening, but he knows very well how dangerous Antonio Conte’s men can be.

Sporting boss Amorim says Hugo Lloris’ passing can be ‘very dangerous’

Lloris has been Tottenham’s undisputed number 1 ever since he joined them from Lyon for £7.9 million (Independent) a little over 10 years ago. If he’s fit, he plays, and that will not change this evening.

The Frenchman is renowned for his shot-stopping, handling and of course, his leadership. However, his distribution isn’t something that’s often talked about – positively, at least.

Amorim, however, has noticed something that can really hurt his side this evening. He revealed in his press conference yesterday that Spurs are a really dangerous side in transition and could even hurt the opposition when the ball is as far back as with Lloris – thanks to his ‘kicks’.

The Sporting Lisbon boss said, as per Football London: “Tottenham is a very strong side. They came fourth in the Premier League and this coach, wherever he goes, he wins.

“They’re very strong in transitions and even when Lloris has the ball, their kicks can be very dangerous. They’re a very complete side.

Lloris is definitely not regarded to be on the same level as the likes of Ederson, Alisson and Aaron Ramsdale when it comes to his distribution, but that doesn’t mean he’s bad.

If Sporting play a high line today and Lloris finds one of Tottenham’s runners in behind, Spurs will most likely score.

Going by Amorim’s comments, he will set his side up to stop that from happening, but Conte’s a genius too, and he will surely have a plan to get his team their second win in the competition this evening.

It will be interesting to see how this game pans out, but if Lloris has a good game, Spurs should fancy themselves to get all three points.
