‘Special person’: Arsenal must use Dennis Bergkamp to win Arkadiusz Milik transfer hunt

The Polish striker is also said to be a big fan of Arsenal.

It is looking increasingly likely that Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik is set to leave the Italian club at the end of the season.

The Polish star is reportedly, as reported by Area Napoli, ready to make a move and the Italian side value him at around £40 million.

Everton and former boss Carlo Ancelotti have a strong link to the player whilst Tottenham are also reported to be keen.

Arsenal, however, are also said to be in the running. As reported by CalcioNapoli24, the Polish frontman is attracting the Gunners interest ahead of the transfer window opening whenever the current season comes to an end.

The Gunners could also have their own advantage in the pursuit of Milik’s signature. The London Evening Standard reported in 2016 that Milik is a big Arsenal fan and has spoken of his dream to one day play for the club.

On top of that, an Arsenal legend has proved pivotal to Milik’s development at a previous club, during his stint at Ajax.

Again, reported by the Standard, Milik owes a great debt to Dennis Bergkamp, who was a major influence on the Pole whilst coaching at the Dutch giants.

“When I joined the club [Ajax] we had a good relationship because I wanted to spend time after training working on my technique. We had good contact between us.

“We text each other and I send him my greetings from here. Dennis is a special person, a player who had a great career and you can constantly learn from him. I try to take as much as possible from him.”

So Arsenal might have an important ally in any pursuit of Milik, with Bergkamp still a popular figure at The Emirates.

If Arsenal can play on the heartstrings of emulating Bergkamp at the club he supported as a boy, then Milik might find it hard to turn down a potential move to The Emirates.
