‘Special’, ‘Direct and fearless’ – Everton youngster Nathan Broadhead impressed the fans with his pre-season performance

Everton could not break the deadlock as they drew 0-0 with FC Sion in their latest pre-season test. Many players were given opportunities to impress Marco Silva in the pre-season friendly against the Swiss side.

Despite the game ending 0-0, there were a few players who caught the eye with impressive performances. Nathan Broadhead, a homegrown talent, was one of those.

The Wales U21 starlet has only played one competitive game for Everton at senior level. That came in the Europa League back in December 2017 and he provided an assist that day against Apollon Limassol.

But he looked comfortable competing at first-team standard in pre-season. And he actually outperformed a number of the senior players in the squad to surely catch Silva’s eye.

Broadhead was unable to break the deadlock but there was one particularly impressive moment by him. He collected a long cross into the box with an exquisite first touch before dancing around the defenders and teeing up Bernard – but the Brazilian’s shot was saved.
