Craig Bellamy thinks his former club West Ham United still have a chance of finishing in the top six this season.

Bellamy was interviewed on the Central Club podcast and was asked how he sees the Hammers getting on come the end of the campaign.

David Moyes’ men have struggled slightly at the start of the campaign and have European football to juggle, but Bellamy thinks they could still have a really good season.

Bellamy said: “They’ve spent a bit of money. They’ve got a good manager. They’ll do alright.

“They’ll be roundabout top ten, top six. It’s just a special club. You stay there and you don’t come back. It grips you. Once you’ve played for them, you get what the club is.

“Even the humour of the fans. I just had so many happy memories there. I didn’t want to leave. Honest truth. Ask anyone there.”

West Ham got a much-needed win over Wolves on Saturday evening and now sit 15th on seven points, thanks to goals from Gianluca Scamacca and Jarrod Bowen.

That may well kickstart their season, which will be congested now with European football back in the mix, testing the squad.

Moyes has spent money and bolstered his squad but he needs to integrate those players into his side rapidly and effectively.

Top ten is hugely realistic; top six would be a bigger ask, but some of the established elite sides are having wobbles so it is not totally off the table despite the sticky start.
