Despite only just signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, Arsenal are now pressing on with their next transfer move.
Sporting director Andrea Berta arrived with a big reputation at Arsenal earlier this year, and it’s already clear to see why.
In a lot of respects, Berta has blown Edu Gaspar’s previous work out of the water, and Arsenal have shown a new level of efficiency in the transfer market.
That being said, Arsenal are now pushing ahead with their interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.
Hincapie wants to join Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of the Ecuador international.
However, the likes of Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko may need to leave before a move is sanctioned.
Myles Lewis-Skelly might move into midfield if Arsenal sign Piero Hincapie
That being said, Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly might be particularly interested to hear about his side’s interest in Hincapie.
Although the 23-year-old is predominantly a left centre-back, he’s also able to excel at left-back, explaining why he’s such an appealing target to Arsenal.
Kiwior has often played at left-back for Arsenal since arriving from Italy, and Hincapie, who would be his replacement, looks even more comfortable as a full-back.
Therefore, with Riccardo Calafiori currently starting at left-back, Arsenal’s move to sign Hincapie might signal change on the horizon for Lewis-Skelly.

Not so long ago, Lewis-Skelly spoke about his preference to play in midfield when he first arrived in the Arsenal first team, and he might now get that chance.
Things are now looking pretty congested at the back at Arsenal owing to new arrivals, and that should mean minutes in midfield for the 18-year-old.
Some still believe that Arteta wants Lewis-Skelly to be a midfielder long-term, and now might be the opportune time to begin that move.
Myles Lewis-Skelly might end up competing with Declan Rice this season
In terms of where Lewis-Skelly would play in midfield for Arsenal, he could operate either as the number six or left-sided eight.
Declan Rice already has competition from Mikel Merino and Eberechi Eze on the left of Arsenal’s midfield this season, and Arteta does have some difficult decisions to make.
But in midfield, Lewis-Skelly’s ‘special’ ability to seamlessly break the lines would be so valuable, and he’s such an excellent ball-carrier as well.
Of course, it is just now a case of how Arteta manages to give minutes to all of his players – Arsenal now have a very big squad as a result of Berta’s brilliance in the market.
Lewis-Skelly will still start games as a left-back for Arsenal, and many will still believe that he’s first-choice, even if Calafiori has started the first two games of the season.
And if Arteta was after ‘positive problems’ in terms of his selection decisions, he’s certainly got a few now.
