‘Special’ Arsenal player could actually end up leaving in January

Emile Smith Rowe is struggling for minutes at Arsenal right now.

The midfielder can’t buy a start at the Emirates right now, and he can barely get off the bench most of the time as well.

There’s been plenty of chat about Smith Rowe needing a move away from Arsenal this month, but most of the suggestions have been that the player won’t be leaving this month.

However, according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Done Deal Show, there could be a late twist in this tale with the journalist claiming that the ‘special’ midfielder could still leave this month.

Smith Rowe twist could happen

Jacobs shared what he knows about the 23-year-old.

“I still think that there might be a twist with Smith Rowe, the Villa interest hasn’t gone away and we also know that Arsenal like Douglas Luiz. Is there a possibility of a two-way movement there?” Jacobs said.

Domino effect

Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal makes plenty of sense considering how little he is playing at the moment.

The 23-year-old is still a very talented player with a high market value, and if Arsenal do find a willing buyer, perhaps they could then have the cash needed to go out and bolster a few other areas of their squad that need surgery.

Of course, whether or not anyone is forthcoming in trying to sign Smith Rowe remains to be seen, but, as Jacobs says, Aston Villa are known admirers, so perhaps that is one to watch.

A move to Villa for Smith Rowe could suit all parties, Arsenal get cash, the player gets more gametime and Villa get a young man with bags of ability and a point to prove.

Keep an eye out for any movement on this front in the coming fortnight as Smith Rowe could well end up leaving Arsenal.
