Southampton should consider loan move for exciting Arsenal talent Emile Smith Rowe

The youngster could be allowed to leave on loan this summer.

Southampton finished the 2019/20 campaign in style with Ralph Hasenhuttl reviving the club’s fortunes after a horrendous start to the season.

The Saints finished 11th on 52 points but finished the season with four wins and three draws from their final seven Premier League outings.

That will surely give them a boost going into the next season and the club might not be finished just yet in the transfer market.

Hasenhuttl has added Kyle Walker-Peters and Mohammed Salisu to his ranks so far and more players might be sought.

Danny Ings was in tremendous form for the Saints last season, firing 25 goals from his 42 appearances in all competitions.

Southampton will want to ensure he is given solid service next season and that should lead them towards an interest in Arsenal player Emile Smith Rowe.

The 20-year-old is by no means the finished article and with Dani Ceballos set to return to the Emirates Stadium, he could be shunted down the pecking order.

Playing football is paramount for the youngster and doing that on a regular basis seems unlikely at Arsenal this season.

The beauty of Smith Rowe is that he can operate in a number of position. He is capable of playing as a No.10, in central midfield or on the flanks.

Southampton and Hasenhuttl, in particular, has a decent track record with exciting youngsters that makes Smith Rowe an ideal sort of addition.

During his 19 game spell on loan at Huddersfield Town, he registered a pass success ratio of 86.6% (Who Scored), highlighting just how comfortable he is on the ball.

Mikel Arteta has been good at throwing his weight behind the youngsters getting chances in the first-team but this season might just come too soon for Smith Rowe.

With that in mind, a loan move to Southampton makes sense for all parties.

The Saints would get themselves an exciting young talent and Arsenal would get a glimpse of whether or not Smith Rowe is capable of performing in the top-flight on a regular basis.
