Southampton are ready to join the queue for Yohan Cabaye if they fail to land Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, according to reports from the Mirror.
Sevilla want £22m for Krychowiak, having rejected a £9m bid, and this could see the St. Mary’s outfit turn their attention to former Newcastle-man Cabaye, who has already been linked with Crystal Palace.
The midfielder only joined the French giants in January 2014 but has already seen his place in team decline, playing just 24 games in Ligue 1 last season. Despite winning the league twice and the French cup, he is already longing for a return to the Premier League.

He said: “Sometimes it’s better to go backward in order to go forward. I enjoyed myself in England, in a league that works for me. If I had the chance to return, I hope to get it done … but there could be other destinations.”
The Saints look set to lose midfield stalwart Morgan Schneiderlin this summer, bringing to an end the 25-year-old’s seven year association with the club, leaving manager Ronald Koeman in desperate need of a replacement. With Premier League experience aplenty, Schneiderlin’s compatriot, Yohan Cabaye, could be the perfect man to arrive at St. Mary’s.
