Southampton must act quickly as AC Milan reportedly enter the race for Moussa Djenepo

With the transfer window now open, Ralph Hasenhuttl is ready to put his own personal stamp on this Southampton squad.

One of Southampton’s top targets is Moussa Djenepo. According to a recent report by Tutto Mercato Web, Southampton are closing in on Djenepo for €22m.

However, recent reports suggest that the Saints will face a battle for their man. AC Milan are now in the hunt to sign Djenepo, according to Sport Media Set Italy.

Djenepo has enjoyed an impressive season at Standard Liege and it is no surprise to see teams keen on him. A summer move away from the Belgian top-flight club looks inevitable.

The Mali international operates on the wing and has chalked up a tally of 11 goals and six assists this season. This has not gone unnoticed with the Saints desperate to bring him to England.

However, AC Milan’s interest presents a problem for Hasenhuttl. The prospect of joining the Italian giants could appeal to Djenepo. The Europa League could await him next season.

The 20-year-old will be weighing up his options but Southampton might have to move quickly to secure his services. With other clubs starting to take notice, this needs to be wrapped up sooner rather than later.
