Southampton loan watch: Sims gets match-winning assist, Boufal opens account

Here is how Southampton’s fleet of loanees faired in the latest rounds of action, including a fine performance from one midfielder.

Jordy Clasie – Feyenoord

Played the entirety of Feyenoord’s 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar, falling five points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven. Picked up a yellow card.

Guido Carrillo – Leganes

Played 90 minutes of Legane’s 1-0 defeat to Villarreal, with his side rooted to the bottom of LaLiga and yet to win this season.

Kingsley Latham – Dorchester Town

Started in goal once again and completed 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Beaconsfield.

Josh Sims – Reading

Came off the bench for the final 11 minutes of Reading’s 3-2 win at Preston, providing the assist for Leandro Bacuna’s 81st-minute winner.

Alfie Jones – St. Mirren

Unused substitute on Friday evening as St. Mirren held defending champions Celtis to a goalless draw.

Sofiane Boufal – Celta Vigo

Came off the bench for the second half of Celta Vigo’s 3-2 defeat to Girona on Monday evening, scoring his side’s second goal. The result leaves Barcelona as the only unbeaten side left in LaLiga.

Ryan Seager – SC Telstar

After scoring a brace against FC Dordrecht last time out, Ryan Seager entered the match against Cambuur in good form but SC Telstar were defeated 2-0.

Jake Flannigan – Burton Albion

Did not feature in 2-1 victory over Sunderland.

Jake Hesketh – Burton Albion

Did not feature in 2-1 victory over Sunderland.

Sam McQueen – Middlesbrough

Still awaiting his debut for Aitor Karanka’s side, who were defeated by Norwich City on Saturday.

Harrison Reed – Blackburn Rovers

Came off the bench for the final 23 minutes of Blackburn’s draw with Aston Villa, making his debut.
