A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Ibrahima Diallo’s display as he came off the bench shortly after the hour mark against Manchester City on Wednesday.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men more than played their part in a fantastic game at the Etihad Stadium. They were beaten 5-2 by the Premier League leaders, but they had their chances to make the scoreline much closer.

Admittedly, the Saints were poor defensively. They made a number of errors and were often punished. But many felt that the side improved later on.
And plenty have put that down to Diallo’s introduction with 27 minutes remaining. The 22-year-old replaced Jack Stephens and seemed to look incredibly comfortable.

As shown by Whoscored.com, he made 30 successful passes during his time out on the pitch. Remarkably, James Ward Prowse was the only member of the Saints’ front six to make more.
He also made two tackles and one interception. Diallo appeared to bring some real intent to the game as it moved into its latter stages.
And it is probably not a coincidence to some that the last goal Southampton conceded came before Diallo was brought on.
