A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Telegraph claiming that the Saints are interested in Gary Cahill this summer.
Cahill is a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace earlier in the window. He has been linked with a number of clubs.
Rangers and Bournemouth are reportedly admirers. But The Telegraph has suggested that Ralph Hasenhuttl could yet attempt to bring him to St Mary’s.
The report notes that the Saints are in talks with a number of defenders abroad. But Cahill is also on their radar.
The 35-year-old has won virtually everything available to a Premier League footballer during his career.
Obviously, he is coming towards the end of his playing days. And for some, the alarm bells do seem to be ringing.
Southampton started the campaign poorly at the weekend with a 3-1 defeat at Everton. And some perhaps feel that more is needed than a veteran like Cahill.
