A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from Hampshire Live suggesting that Duje Caleta-Car is thought to be a potential target for the Saints.

Ralph Hasenhuttl surely cannot let the window close without signing a new defender.

Of course, Jannik Vestergaard left for Leicester last week. And the Saints went on to concede three in their Premier League opener against Everton on Saturday.

One of the options on their radar is reportedly thought to be Caleta-Car. However, Hampshire Live reports that the Marseille defender may be out of the club’s price range.

For some, the idea of the Saints not being able to afford the Croatia international is laughable. They have sold Vestergaard and Danny Ings for significant fees this summer.

Meanwhile, Ryan Bertrand’s departure has probably freed up a lot of space on the wage bill following his own move to the King Power Stadium.
