Southampton fans react on Twitter to links with Everton's Tom Davies

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from talkSPORT this week suggesting that the Saints are in talks to sign Tom Davies on loan from Everton.

Ralph Hasenhuttl appears to need further depth in the middle of the park. The likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Mario Lemina and Harrison Reed have all left in some capacity during this window.

But it appears that a new signing could soon be on the way.

According to talkSPORT, the Saints are in talks with Everton regarding a move for Davies. It is suggested that the two clubs are close to agreeing a season-long loan for the 22-year-old.

Davies has become a peripheral figure under Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park. He has made one substitute appearance in their first two Premier League games.

And that is perhaps why some Southampton fans appear to be a little concerned about the links. They are not convinced that he is going to fill the void left by Hojbjerg.

But it does appear that the majority of the supporters are either optimistic that he could prove to be a very good addition, or are willing to give him time.

Davies has previously shown glimpses of real quality. And some fans are hopeful that he can rediscover that sort of form under Hasenhuttl should a move go through.
