A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jannik Vestergaard’s performance as the Saints beat Aston Villa 4-3 on Sunday.

Villa Park played host to another incredible game as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men looked set to hand the home side their second successive heavy defeat.

The Saints took a 4-0 lead inside an hour. And it was Vestergaard who gave them the lead with a fantastic header after just 20 minutes.

Ultimately, James Ward-Prowse will understandably take many of the headlines. He scored two stunning free-kicks and provided the assist for Vestergaard’s goal.

But plenty of supporters felt that Vestergaard gave Ward-Prowse a run for his money. It has been a remarkable start to the season for the centre-back.

Southampton fans would have been forgiven for wanting the Dane moved on over the summer. As shown by Spotrac, he earns £60,000-a-week at St Mary’s. And he had previously struggled to live up to expectations on the south coast.

However, he appears to have turned a corner in dramatic fashion in more recent times. And some clearly think that he has been one of the side’s best players so far this term.

Here is how some of the supporters reacted to Vestergaard’s performance…
