Southampton fans react on Twitter as West Ham reportedly eye Spurs man

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Sunday Mirror (2/8; page 64) claiming West Ham United are eyeing a late move to scupper their hopes of landing Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters spent the latter half of last season on loan at St Mary’s. He took some time to establish himself in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, but he was superb following the campaign’s resumption.

Unsurprisingly, the Saints are reportedly keen to keep Walker-Peters. The Sunday Mirror (2/8; page 64) reports that they want to complete a permanent move for the 23-year-old this week.

However, the Mirror has also suggested that the Hammers are interested in attempting to make a last-ditch bid to snatch the Spurs man.

The report has claimed that David Moyes is a big fan of the £12 million-rated defender and hopes that the board will give the green light to a late offer being made.

It must be noted that the report suggests Southampton remain in pole position to sign Walker-Peters.

And it appears that some of the Southampton fans have few concerns about losing Walker-Peters to West Ham.

Many seem confident that he will not be tempted by a potential move to the London Stadium given how he has settled in with the Saints.

Admittedly, some are wary of Southampton potentially overpaying if a bidding war ensues. And others hope West Ham’s interest inspires quick action from their club. But most seem optimistic that the Saints will still be the ones to secure Walker-Peters’s signature.

Here is what some of the supporters make of the possibility of West Ham making a move for the Tottenham man…
