Everton attacker Theo Walcott completed a move to Southampton on loan yesterday – and some Saints fans on Twitter expressed their delight with the transfer.

The Toffees confirmed on their official website that the 31-year-old has moved to St Mary’s on a season-long loan for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.

Walcott previously made his breakthrough into first-team football at Southampton as a teenager after coming through their academy and has now returned to play under manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The English speedster has scored 11 goals in 85 appearances for Everton since his move to Merseyside two years ago, but he’s slipped down the pecking order under manager Carlo Ancelotti and a loan exit has been granted.

He is a right-winger that still has plenty of pace and the ex-Arsenal man is very experienced at the top level.

A selection of Southampton supporters on social media are over the moon to have Walcott back at their club and feel his loan deal could be a smart piece of business.

The rapid wide man has remained in the English Premier League to continue his football and will be looking to play more regularly, as he made just 29 appearances across all competitions last season for the Toffees.
