Southampton striker Danny Ings has reportedly emerged as a target for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s side look to bring in a striker to replace Sergio Aguero this summer – and Saints supporters have reacted on Twitter to the potential Ings could go.
Ings, 28, has struggled to replicate the form he showed during 2019-20 – managing just nine goals in 25 Southampton games this season. Injury and a lack of momentum has seen him struggle, while the Saints form has also been questionable.
That has all contributed to the detriment of Ings. The season beforehand, though, the three-time England international did net a whopping 25 goals in 42 games in all competitions and the striker has entered the final 18 months of his current contract.
Sky Sports claim City are keen to sign Ings in the summer with Aguero out of contract in June. The Argentine, who is lacking in game time under Guardiola this season, is expected to depart in the coming months – and Ings has been idenfitied to replace him.
Saints fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that City want to sign their striker – as per reports – and it seems many Saints fans are open to his exit. However, they are keen to see a player come to the south coast in return, with one suggesting Liam Delap.
