Southampton defender Cedric Soares could be about to join Arsenal this summer with reports claiming talks are underway over a £5million move between the Premier League clubs – and Saints fans have reacted to the reported news on Twitter.

Cedric, 28, is in the final months of his contract at Southampton and although he will be available for nothing in the summer – Arsenal are keen to sign a new right-sided defender and Portugal international Cedric has appeared as a cheap option.

Tottenham star Kyle Walker-Peters is expected to move to Southampton this month on loan from Arsenal’s rivals, and that temporary deal will give Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side cover for the departing Cedric – if a move to Arsenal occurs.

Indeed, the Evening Standard claim that Arsenal are looking to sign the Euro 2016 winner for just £5million. Such a fee is much smaller than perhaps his actual value, but given his current contract situation, a cut-price deal is being discussed.

Hector Bellerin is currently fit, but the Gunners defender is prone to injury and has certainly spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines this season. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is naturally a midfielder, and completely out of his depth at right-back.

Southampton fans reacted to the reported news that Arsenal could sign their right-back for a bargain fee of £5million, and it is clear that may Saints supporters are happy for the defender to leave – as they will bring in some cash for his signature.
