Southampton fell to a 3-1 home defeat against Liverpool on Friday night in the Premier League – but some of the supporters on Twitter praised their midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for his performance.
The Saints were in front early thanks to Shane Long’s finish inside the penalty area, but were pegged back by Naby Keita’s headed goal before half-time.
Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson then gave the visitors the win with their goals at St Mary’s to help them move back to the top of the table.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side put in a brave performance against top-class opposition, but were ultimately outclassed in the final 10 minutes of the game.

A selection of Southampton fans on social media singled out Hojbjerg for his performance against Liverpool and he was one of the standout players on the pitch.
The 23-year-old central midfielder provided the assist for Long’s goal and was a threat when stepping forward, but was also a defensive rock with tackles and interceptions.
He’s someone that appears to be thriving under Hasenhuttl and he is becoming one of the essential players in the squad.
