Southampton fans on Twitter laud Walker-Peters’ display

Southampton fans on Twitter cannot believe that the club were able to sign Kyle Walker-Peters permanently in the summer.

Walker-Peters spent the second-half of last season on loan with the Saints. And after a difficult start, he vindicated the club’s decision to bring him in with a bright end to the campaign.

His form however, seemingly did not tempt Tottenham to try and keep him. Southampton were able to make his move permanent for a fee of £12 million, according to the Daily Mail.

And there is every reason to think that that deal was a masterstroke. The 23-year-old has been outstanding for much of the season, culminating with a superb performance on Monday night.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side beat Liverpool 1-0 at St Mary’s. Saints fans may have feared that they had scored too early when Danny Ings gave them the lead inside two minutes.

But despite coming under some pressure, Fraser Forster was hardly given anything to do by the visitors. And that was largely down to the performance of the Southampton defence.
