Southampton are reportedly interested in a move for Swansea City attacker Jordan Ayew – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are not pleased with the speculation.
The Sun reports that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are lining up a swoop for the 27-year-old this summer.
It is understood that he could cost around £5million to sign from Championship outfit Swansea, but there could be competition from Crystal Palace for him.
Ayew spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan with Palace at Selhurst Park, where he made 25 appearances across all competitions.
The Ghana international struggled to force his way into the starting XI and he managed just two goals plus two assists for Palace.
He is centre-forward by trade that can also be deployed in a wide role with his pace and power.
Ayew has made 100 Premier League appearances during spells with Swansea, Palace and Aston Villa, scoring 16 goals and suppling seven assists in return.
A selection of Saints fans don’t believe that Ayew is a suitable target for the summer and that he would struggle to make a serious impact.
After narrowly avoiding relegation in the Premier League, Southampton go into the new season with the likes of Shane Long, Danny Ings and Charlie Austin as current options at striker.
Here are some Southampton fans reacting to the Ayew speculation:

Waste of money

Not the player we are looking for. Origi would be perfect for our side. Young, tall and very verstile

God help us! He’s awful!

No better than what we have. If this is the sort of signing the board are going to sanction/finance then it’s just even more concern.
