Southampton fans excited by links to Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard
Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard is reportedly attracting interest from Southampton – and some Saints fans on Twitter are delighted with the transfer speculation that they want to sign him.
The Scottish Sun reports that Premier League side Southampton are now involved in the transfer battle this summer for the 23-year-old.
It is understood that the Saints have joined Arsenal, Aston Villa and Italian club Roma in showing interest in him.
The report explains that Edouard could look to try exit Parkhead at the end of the season to explore opportunities elsewhere.
The French centre-forward is a key figure for Scottish giants Celtic due to his goal contributions, but they are likely to cash in this summer for £20million-plus if they get the chance.
A selection of Southampton supporters on social media are convinced that Edouard could add something to their squad at St Mary’s, especially as they’ve had real success in the past conducting transfer business with Celtic.
Danny Ings is the current first-choice striker for Southampton, but they could do with some extra firepower in support of him.
Edouard has no experience in English football yet, but he’s shown his goalscoring pedigree with 83 goals in 167 Celtic appearances.
Here are some Saints fans discussing the Celtic frontman:
A strong striker with pace and 16 goals and 5 assists in 26 games. Can't say no to that, but would like to see the price tag lowered a bit.

I can't see us getting him. He will be in demand.

Would i sign him? absolutely.
Are we going to have the cash to get him over other clubs? Very doubtful.
Though Saints maybe in a better position as we can offer more play time than other clubs (LC, Arsenal). However I would be surprised if we spend that money

Completely! Young, fast and prolific; a proven finisher… But sadly we will be easily out-muscled financially and he'll end up a bench warmer for a richer club. So much potential at his age!

Yes he’s proven himself to be a good striker and we need someone like that to back up ings and maybe even replace him
