Southampton are amongst a host of Premier League clubs who may have received a potential transfer boost, with Birmingham Live reporting that West Brom have decided against offering Ahmed Musa a contract.
Musa has been linked with a host of English sides in recent times. The Daily Mail reported last week that the likes of Southampton, Brighton and Burnley were monitoring the 28-year-old.

It was suggested that the former Leicester City man has been training with the Baggies. And the Mail claimed that Sam Allardyce was keen to offer him a deal.
However, it now appears that Musa will not be signing at the Hawthorns after all. According to Birmingham Live, West Brom are now not planning to offer the striker a contract.

It will be interesting to see if the Baggies’ reported decision prompts his other admirers to act.
Admittedly, the Mail noted that some of the sides looking at Musa were simply planning to offer him the chance to train with them. So the Nigeria international may still have to prove himself elsewhere before earning his next move.
It is perhaps a surprise that West Brom have turned down the chance to sign Musa. Allardyce’s men are in a bleak situation in the Premier League.
They were busy in January. And Mbaye Diagne has made an encouraging start since arriving on loan.
But a move for a free agent comes with little risk if the terms are reasonable. And West Brom are reaching the stage where they need to be prepared to roll the dice.
