Loris Karius could be the ‘keeper Liverpool need after all
Few were expecting much from the German after a quiet 90 minutes against Plymouth on his return to action after a series of costly errors led to his dropping from the starting eleven, but he kept his side in the game.
In both halves, the summer signing made a number of stops which ensured that his team remained in the tie by saving from Nathan Redmond and Jay Rodriguez when his defence failed to provide the cover he needed.
It’s unlikely to have done enough to displace Simon Mignolet as first choice, but it will have planted seeds of doubt in Jurgen Klopp’s mind should Mignolet slip up at any point. More performances like this one are the way for Karius to go to be Liverpool’s long term number one.
