Nathan Redmond has the potential… but still has some way to go

When given his opportunity in the 20th minute, Nathan Redmond pounced to score his third goal of the season in fine fashion and his most important in Southampton colours with a strike which could send them to Wembley.

However, he continued to frustrate some Saints fans as another two clear cut chances came his way and went begging. Just on the break of half-time, the winger had the opportunity to give his side a two goal lead but Redmond went for power rather than place and Loris Karius was able to save well.

Late on, his chip beat Karius but was cleared off the line by Dejan Lovren. Whilst he showed his quality and ability to threaten in a forward position, he also showed how far he has to go.
