Sought-after Wilson reportedly decides he wants to leave Liverpool this summer

Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson has decided to leave Anfield this summer, according to a report by the Daily Mirror.

They report that the Welsh international is keen to move on because he feels he will not get enough games to develop, and feels that top flight match time is required to be the next stage in his development.

And seven clubs are named in the report as having an interest in his signature; Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Southampton and Brighton, as well as German outfits Augsburg, Hertha Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt.

There is also reportedly interest from La Liga, meaning that Liverpool will be confident of starting a bidding war now that Wilson has made his mind up.

Wilson of course spent 2018/19 on loan at Derby, where he was defeated in the final of the Championship play-offs on Monday afternoon, going down 2-1 to Aston Villa.

But he showed more than enough ability to suggest he could cut it in the Premier League – which is why there’s such a queue of clubs forming.

It’s a tricky situation for Wilson, who must view the limited gametime afforded to the likes of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge at Anfield as a worry.

But at the same time, Liverpool need attacking squad depth and there’s an opportunity there for him in that respect, if he could take his chances when they came.

It looks like he’s decided against a bit-part role though, wanting to fly the nest and play every week – now it remains to be seen who will win the transfer tussle.
