Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Ibrahim Sangare has recently been described by Toulouse president and former Spurs director of football Damien Comolli as a player who “sorts out a lot of offensive and defensive problems” for their side.

According to Get French Football News, Tottenham have an “intense interest” in the 22-year-old and have been following himfor some time now, though they have yet to make a solid move for him.

The report adds that Toulouse don’t feel under pressure to sell Sangare even after relegation to Ligue 2, but a deal worth between €15million and €20million (£13.5million and £18million) excluding bonuses would be the target.

Sangare has been with Les Violets since 2016, when he joined from AS Denguele in his native Ivory Coast, and has made 84 competitive appearances for the French side, also registering two goals and five assists in that time.

Comolli, who was at Tottenham between 2005 and 2008, spoke about Sangare during his first press conference as Toulouse president in late July.

“For Sangare, he sorts out a lot of offensive and defensive problems for us,” Comolli was quoted by Get French Football News as saying.

“We don’t want to part ways with him. We are not intending to see any departures for important players. We don’t need to sell from a financial perspective.”

Though Spurs could do with strengthening their ranks ahead of the new season, midfield is arguably one of the areas least in need of bolstering, particularly in wake of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s arrival.

The reported price tag isn’t particularly steep for a 22-year-old with French top-flight and international experience who stands an impressive 6ft 3in and is yet to reach his full potential, not to mention Comolli’s reluctance in parting ways with him.

That said, with Spurs potentially having a tight budget this summer, there are much more pressing issues for the club to sort out, namely the defence and attack.
